GENERAL INFORMATION

This information is intended to give you a general idea of our program.

MUSTANG FALL CHEER

Join us for football cheer and learn cheers, half-time routine, tumbling, jumps, and stunting.  It is a lot of fun and a great experience for your child.  Boys and girls are welcome to cheer with us. Your registration fee covers instruction.  There is an additional fee for a practice T-shirt and shoes.  We do fundraise to help with our expenses so that we can keep the registration fee as low as possible.  Everyone is required to participate, or you may opt out of fundraising by paying a fee of $50 per fundraising event.

A parent meeting is tentatively scheduled for July 11 at 6 pm.

We will start our football cheer practices on Tuesdays beginning August 1.  Our practices will be at Harris Park with rain/severe weather backup practices at Dodgeville Elementary School.

In the past, games were on Tuesdays, Thursdays, or Saturdays.  We cannot guarantee that this will be the same every season.  We will not know the game schedule until the Mustang Football Program releases their schedule. You are required to cheer home games and will be assigned those games in advance.  Sometimes we do add away games, and if possible, we will schedule those in advance. Team placement and practice times will depend on how many sign up and grade levels.  We are open to 4K through 8th grade for football cheer.

We also participate in parades and events that may come up unexpectedly.

When we start practices…. Please, if your child is sick and contagious in any way with any illness, do not send them. Do not drop them off and leave them if they are not feeling well.

Please be aware, if your child comes into practice not feeling well or with a fever, they will have to sit away from the group and wait for you to come back. This could take a coach away from the rest of the group.

Practices are usually 1 hour and 15 minutes. The earliest practice start time will be 5:00.

***All communication is handled through the sign up app Go Motion/SportEngine Motion***

 â€‹

Please dress appropriately for practices. Practice attire consists of a team shirt/tank, black shorts that fit snug to the body and are a flexible fabric (no jeans or fabrics with no stretch), low cut socks and cheer shoes.  Hair must be tied back.  No jewelry.

Families invest in their child’s program not only with payment, but they arrange help with getting their child to and from practices and arrange their schedules around practices and events. We have some girls who earn their own money so that they can participate. If your child has too many missed practices, they will not be prepared; and therefore, they will not cheer at the next game or games until they are ready.  If this continues, they will be removed from the team.  There are no refunds.

DMS FALL CHEER

This will be the first year that our middle school cheerleaders will be cheering for the Dodgeville Middle School football team.  The 7th and 8th grade tackle football program will now be through DMS.  Cheerleading will continue through Mustang Cheer.  Mustang Cheer is responsible for the expenses related to running a cheer program.

Practices will be Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday in August, 2:30 pm until 5:00 pm.  When school starts, practice times will be determined.

We will have an all-day practice to go over the cheers, work on motion technique, begin stunting, tumbling, and jumps skills, and routines. The date is tentatively set for Friday, August 4th, 8 am until 4 pm.

Most of the games are on Thursday.  There is one Tuesday and one Saturday game.  The first game is August 31st.  This all could change.

We will participate in a pep rally and parade during homecoming week.  We also participate in parades and events that may come up unexpectedly.

Uniforms and more information will be discussed at a parent meeting tentatively scheduled for July 13 at 6 pm.

There are no refunds.

COMPETITIVE CHEER

We are a Rec Competitive Cheer program.  We teach stunting, tumbling and jumps to go with our cheer and dance routine. We do 3 - 4 competitions per season. We also do community events/services and parades when they are available.

Our practices will start in August and may go into February or March. Once school starts, you cannot miss any practices or constantly not participate while at practice.  You will be dismissed from the team if you cannot be relied upon.  A medical excuse, including a plan of care, is required for anyone missing due to injury or illness.

ALL COMPETITION PRACTICES WILL BE CLOSED.  Please do not let your child bring a friend to practice. This is a distraction and uncomfortable for other cheerleaders participating in practice. If your child needs you to be there for the first few practices, that is understandable.

There is travel involved in competitive cheer.  Sometimes we book hotels; although, you are not required to stay at a hotel.  We do have a competition in Green Bay, and you may want to consider a hotel for one night.

In addition to registration fees, there are entry fees for each competition.

Our teams;

Mini 4k – 1st grade

Junior 2nd – 4th grade

Senior 5th and above

***Teams could be combined or divided depending on numbers***

Practices are on Mondays, 5 pm until 7:30 pm for middle school and Thursdays for our younger cheerleaders starting in August. As we get closer to competition, we will add practices to be held at the high school using their gymnastics floor.  More information coming soon.  There is one Saturday practice per month beginning in October and going into January.

We do fundraise to help keep our fees down.  Everyone is required to participate in fundraising events, or you may pay a fee of $50 per fundraising event.

Families invest in their child’s program not only with payment, but they arrange help to get their child to and from practices and arrange their schedules around practices and competitions. We have some girls who earn their own money so that they can participate. If your child has too many missed practices, they will not be prepared and therefore, they will not participate at competition and will be removed from the team.  There are no refunds.
